Spa Cover Buying GuideSpa Cover Buying Guide

You can find many stores selling spa covers in Australia. However it is better to have some knowledge on spa covers to get the best spa cover for your money.
Spa covers are found of differing thickness, and are tapered so that rain and snow falls off easily. The thicker the foam thickness of the spa cover, the heavier the load it can withstand. So if you have a spa which is at deck level, you need a spa cover that is 5”x 4” while the indoor spa cover with a 4”x2” taper is sufficient.
The foam density is another factor to be considered when buying a spa cover. There are divided into 3 levels of foam density. The higher the foam density is, the lower is the operational cost of the spa cover. So choose the spa cover with the highest density foam of about 1.5lb to 2 lbs. Today, most of the spa covers use vinyl that is treated with UV and mildew inhibitors, which facilitates longer hours in direct sunlight and prevents prevention of mildew on the spa cover. The marine grade vinyl is the best choice; those with the darker colors.
Scrim found on the underside of the spa cover protects the foam of the spa cover from moisture. The reflective scrim is the best choice for a spa cover as it deflects the heat into the spa, which helps reduce heating costs. The reflective scrim is also water repellent which saves the foam core to add years of service to the spa cover. There is a barrier around the foam core; and the best is the one that is 4 mm thick.
