For cleaning the pool there is both manual and automatic equipment.
Manual Cleaning Equipment

Vacuum Head and Hose – plate with rollers or brushes on its underside which cleans the bottom of the pool floor; attaches to a hose which connects the head to the skimmer box or a vacuum connection on the side of the pool
Telescopic Handle – extendable device connected to the vacuum head which allows control of the head over the floor of the pool
Leaf Scoop or Skimmer – attaches to the telescopic handle to remove leaves from the pool surface
Pool Broom – attaches to the telescopic handle to brush the walls of the pool

Automatic Cleaning Equipment

Suction Unit – connects to the skimmer box and cleans the bottom of the pool with motion created by water being drawn through it
Pressure – uses water pressure from the filter or other pump to move around bottom of the pool
Electric – self contained power, pump, filter unit

Pool Cover – prevents heat from being lost and keeps pool clean

Chemical Feeders – necessary for maintaining proper pH level

Liquid Pumps – inject liquid chlorine or a mixture of water with powder chlorines or bromines
Erosion Feeders – cylinder filled with tablets of granulated or stabilized chlorine or bromine tables or sticks
Chlorine Generators – produces chlorine gas which is mixed with pool water to form liquid chlorine
Floating Chlorinators – floats on pool surface and automatically dispenses chemicals

Pumps pull water from the pool through a filter and other accessories such as the heater, chlorinator and cleaner.

• Filter and cleaning pumps

Chemicals

Water balancers – maintain proper pH chemistry
Chlorine or bromine – disinfectants that control growth of algae and bacteria
Water test kit – strips or dip and read meters that test water pH

Pool Heaters

Gas – propane, natural gas or heating oil
Heat pump - electric
Solar – solar panels are used to heat pool by direct sunlight
